ABOUT US...

A sense of continuity is important for a community.  It gives a feeling of permanence, a knowledge of being a part of a development that has a significance beyond the immediate concerns of the present.

This is a statement made by The Ferny Hills Progress Association over 30 years ago.  It is still relevant today.  It is important to know a little of the history of an area so you can understand the forces that have shaped the community we live in. The FHPA provides a forum for concerned citizens to raise issues and open them up for discussion by everyone who may be effected. Matters that were discussed in the early years included the condition of roads, drainage problems and the need for sewerage, street lighting and street name plates.  The FHPA is not a discussion only group but is very hands on.  Many of the parks in the area today owe their current beauty to the work of the FHPA.  The play equipment and seating was often provided due to fund raising efforts of the associations.

The FHPA is a group of local citizens who volunteer their time and effort to improve the area we live in.  We are a non-profit, non-political incorporated association.

The aims of the FHPA are:

  • to act as liaison between residents and official bodies concerned with the development of the area;
  • to raise funds for area improvement; and
  • to assist in development and progress of other community organizations in the area.
